Birds and Flowers

화조도(花鳥圖)
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What sense of season does a scene of flowers and birds together convey?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This bird-and-flower painting holds flower and bird in harmony within one scene. It was drawn in Japan's long bird-and-flower tradition, yet the sight of flowers blooming by season and birds alighting softens the heart anywhere. I see here the calm of things that follow their proper time. The flower blooms in its season and the bird, knowing that season, comes to find it. Neither forces it early nor puts it off. Nature does not hurry, yet it is never once late. People are always running ahead of the time and growing anxious, but there is a firm wisdom too in knowing the proper time and waiting for it.
