The Dhammapada
Are my thoughts as still and clear as water, or turbulent like a violent storm?
📝ONGO's Reflection
On nights when my mind was too noisy for sleep, the short verses of the Dhammapada gave me a remarkable stillness. This book is like a collection of poems that, beyond religious doctrine, guides me toward becoming the master of my own mind. The Buddha says that everything we are arises from thought, and conveys a simple yet profound wisdom of setting down attachment and anger. Savoring it slowly, verse by verse, I find my tangled mind gently set in order.
"We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world."Siddhartha Gautama, The Dhammapada
"우리는 우리가 생각한 결과물이다. 마음이 모든 것을 만들고, 마음이 모든 것을 이끈다."
🌱Apply It Today
When sudden anger or unpleasant feeling rises, don't react at once. Take three deep breaths and quietly observe which attachment within you it sprang from.
