📜 Origin and History
The hanja "秋" depicts grain (禾) ripening like fire. "夕" is the half-moon — evening. 秋夕 = "autumn evening" — the day of the roundest harvest full moon. Also called Hangawi. Originated from the Silla weaving contest (Gabae) recorded in 「Samguk Sagi」. A harvest thanksgiving with new-grain ancestral rites.
