軍人
군인
軍 (army) + 人 (person)

📖 Origin of the Hanja

The hanja "軍" depicts a covering (冖) over a chariot (車) — encampment. 軍人 = "army person". Korean military ethics trace back to Silla's Hwarang and the 「Five Secular Commandments」: loyalty to king, filial piety, faith with friends, no retreat in battle, choosing what to kill.

"軍人 — heir of the Hwarang. Conviction precedes weapon."
