Yi I (Yulgok)
Did I begin even one small preparation for tomorrow's risk today?
📝ONGO's Reflection
Eight years before the Japanese invasions, Yulgok proposed raising an army of a hundred thousand. It was rejected. We learned he had been right only eight years later, standing on the ashes. Yulgok's tragedy was not that he saw the future, but that no one in his age could recognize what he saw. We too ignore small Yulgok-like warnings every day — the signals our bodies send, the signals our bank accounts send, the signals our relationships send. They all look trivial today, but eight years on they can become ashes. Yulgok tells us to look again at the one thing we ignored today.

🌱Apply It Today
The health checkup you've been putting off, the insurance review, that one awkward phone call to mend a relationship — begin just the smallest of them before today is out. Yulgok's army of a hundred thousand began with a single memorial to the throne.
