📖 Origin of the Hanja
The hanja "安" depicts a woman (女) under a roof (宀) — domestic peace. Korean Ahn descends from An Ja-mi of Sunheung An (Goryeo era). The most famous Korean Ahn is Ahn Jung-geun (1879-1910), who assassinated Ito Hirobumi in Harbin in 1909. Ahn Chang-ho (Dosan, 1878-1938) founded the Heungsadan independence society.
