📖 Origin of the Hanja
The hanja "趙" was Zhao, one of the Seven Warring States of ancient China (BC 403~BC 222). After conquest by Qin, descendants kept the name. Korean Cho clans include Hanyang Cho (from a Song-era immigrant) and Pungyang Cho (Goryeo founding contributor). In late Joseon, Pungyang Cho rivaled Andong Kim as the dominant aristocratic faction.
🏯 Main Clans (Bongwan)
