📖 Origin of the Hanja
The hanja "姜" combines 羊 (sheep) + 女 — "shepherd clan". Korean Kang descend from Kang Isik who naturalized from China during Goguryeo. Most famous: Kang Gam-chan (948~1031), the general who repelled the Khitan invasion at the Battle of Gwiju (1019).
