📖 Origin of the Hanja
The hanja "高" depicts a tall pavilion. The Jeju Ko clan traces to Ko Eul-na, one of three founders from the legendary Samseonghyeol cave on Jeju Island. Hoengseong Ko claims descent from Goguryeo's King Dongmyeong. Ko Gyeong-myeong (1533-1592) died with his two sons at the Battle of Geumsan during the Imjin War.
