🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"From what heart came the gaze that held an entire mountain in a single scene?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a true-view landscape in which Gyeomjae Jeong Seon held all of Mount Geumgang within one scene. The twelve thousand peaks blend in a round form, composing one great shape within the frame. I see, in this painting, an eye not confined to the part. The order of the whole, which would never have appeared had he viewed each peak up close, the painter grasped by stepping far back. There is something that becomes visible only by viewing from afar. Bound to one peak before the eyes, one easily loses the flow of the whole mountain. At times, the step backward is the path to seeing more deeply.
