Clearing After Rain on Mt. Inwang
"Why is it that a mountain stands clearest only after the rain has passed?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
Jeong Seon painted Mount Inwang just as the rain lifted and the mist began to part, pressing the form into dark, heavy ink. The mountain he had gazed upon his whole life, he caught at its most elusive moment, the instant the downpour and the fog were only just withdrawing. Standing before this painting, I see that the more familiar a thing is, the more it reveals itself only after it has first been obscured. What is always at our side becomes vivid only once a rain has passed over it.
