Korea Work 23
"What kind of calm dwells within labor that has become second nature?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
A man with his upper body bared slices tobacco with a fodder-cutter, while the one beside him reads a book, fanning himself. Kim Hong-do painted the midday of working people without reserve. In this painting I see the natural rhythm of labor. Even hard work, once it settles into the hands, finds its own beat and ease. One slices and another reads; even the workplace carries the grain of life. The painter's gaze, which did not regard the place of sweat as shameful, is honest.

Even within the work you repeat each day, make your own rhythm and small ease, and breathe within it.
