"Why was a gathering in the rear yard of a government office left as a painting?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
This is a gathering-record painting depicting officials assembled in the rear garden of a government office. Some hold, since Gyeongbok Palace appears intact, that it is a work from before the Imjin War. I read, in this painting, the heart that would hold fast to time spent together. The day on which those doing the same work gathered in the yard and shared affection was carved onto the canvas before they scattered. Bonds do not stay but flow away; yet when the place shared together is recorded, the heart of it at least remains long. More than the pleasure of the gathering, the devotion that sought to keep it joins people across a longer span.

Do not simply let a shared occasion slip away; leave even one scene of it and remember.
