The Stele-Raising of the Bukgwan Album holds a scene of opening frontier land and setting up a stone there. To widen a border and leave a marker in that place is an act that looks not to immediate merit but to the trace it will leave for those who come after. In this painting I see that today's labor becomes the standard of the future. Because someone first set foot there and raised a stone, those who follow know the way. The trace of a person who quietly widened a limit does not vanish but becomes the starting point of the next generation.
