🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What was the heart that painted books and kept them near?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a folk painting where books, writing implements, porcelain, and fruit are stacked shelf by shelf. It is not an actual study but a longing for books carried over into a picture. I read, here, the devotion of one who would draw what he did not possess in order to keep it near. Books were learning itself, a wish to become a better person. To hang that wish on the wall and gaze at it each day is the same as placing before one's eyes the direction one wishes to face. What you keep beside you tells what you wish to become.
