Munjado: Filial Piety
"Why are a carp and a bamboo shoot hidden within the character for filial piety?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
Within the strokes of the character for filial piety are pictures of old, devoted children who found a carp and a bamboo shoot for their mothers in the dead of winter. Here the letter is a painting, and the painting is a story. An abstract single character is unfolded into scenes one can hold in the hand, so that anyone may carve it into the heart. In this work I see that the greater the virtue, the more it is conveyed not by grand words but by one small, concrete act. The heart reveals itself not in letters but in deeds.
🌱Apply It Today
Rather than offering grand words to your parents, today do one small thing for them with your own hands, without a word.
