🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What is different about a landscape painted not with a brush but with the fingers?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a landscape, a finger painting, made by Gao Qipei of Qing-dynasty China with his fingers. Forsaking the familiar tool of the brush, he dipped his bare hand in ink and painted mountain and water. The rough, blunt marks of the fingertips make a spirit no brush could produce. In these fingers I see the place beyond the tool. When skill ripens, the tool only assists; in the end what paints is the person. There is no excusing oneself for lack of a good brush. One whose heart is ripe raises a mountain with a single finger. The tool is not the end but only an aid to the person.
