Wolyaseonyudo Boat

월야선유도(月夜船遊圖) - 놀잇배
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What were the people who set a boat upon the river by moonlight enjoying?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This painting by Kim Hong-do holds a night of pleasure with a leisure boat set upon a moonlit river. Upon the water there is no destination. There is only the flowing water and the reflected moon, enjoyed together. I see here the worth of time that achieves nothing. People always suppose they must be going somewhere, but some nights are enough without arriving. To give oneself to the current and share the moon with a companion near, that empty time is the very thing that fills the heart.
