The Principles of Psychology
Are my daily habits working for me as an ally, or binding me as an enemy?
📝ONGO's Reflection
When I opened this vast classic of psychology, what astonished me most was his insight into habit. James calls habit "the enormous flywheel of society." Once formed, a habit carves a physical path into the nervous system, keeping our lives rolling along even without our awareness. He proves, in language at once scientific and literary, that your unconscious acts today are the very chisel shaping the you of tomorrow. It is a manual to take down and read whenever you wish to correct the orbit of your life.
"All our life, so far as it has definite form, is but a mass of habits."William James, The Principles of Psychology
"우리의 삶은, 그 형태가 정해져 있는 한 결국 습관들의 덩어리에 불과하다."
🌱Apply It Today
Spot one small action you repeat without thinking today, and check whether it serves your goals. Try replacing one bad habit with a good one.
