The Kalevala
What salvation do song and magic offer to humans living in a barren nature?
📝ONGO's Reflection
When I read of the wise old sorcerer Väinämöinen playing the kantele and singing in a snow-swept Finnish forest, it felt as if the mysterious energy of the beginning of time were enfolding my whole body. The imagination of Finnish myth is utterly singular, for its hero prevails not through force but through the incantatory power of poetry and song, commanding the spirits of nature and shaping the world. Upon the cold earth of the North, the warm breath of the common people, passed mouth to mouth, and the epic of great nature unfold in wonder.

When you feel low or worn out, quietly hum a song you love, like a charm of your own. The small magic a song holds will melt the ice in your heart.
