📖 Origin of the Hanja
Originally Baekje's "Michuhol (彌鄒忽)" — where founder Biryu settled. "Hol" meant "fortress" in Baekje speech. Renamed Inju (仁州) in Goryeo, then Incheon (仁川) in 1413 by Taejong of Joseon — combining 仁 with 川 (stream). Korea's first international port (1883). Site of MacArthur's 1950 landing that turned the Korean War.
