Conquer Anger with Calm
Conquer anger with calm, evil with good, meanness with giving, and falsehood with truth.
Am I meeting anger with anger, evil with evil — and so multiplying both?
📝Reflection
This verse shows four pairs of contest, all on the same principle: do not meet like with like, but transcend with the opposite. Meet anger with anger and it doubles; receive it with calm, and right there anger loses where to go. This is not naive niceness but the cleverest strategy. Strike the other's energy with identical energy and only the collision grows. But receive it with energy of a different grain, and no collision even forms. When someone comes with falsehood, use falsehood too and it becomes a mud pit; respond with quiet truth, and falsehood loses its footing. The only way to break a vicious cycle is to add no more of the same material to the chain. Only one who responds with the opposite changes the flow.
🌱Apply It Today
When someone approaches in anger today, don't match the tone — respond one tone lower, calmly. That one tone dissolves the collision.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
