Marie Curie was the first person to win two Nobel Prizes. But more astonishing is that throughout all those discoveries, she dimly knew the very substance she handled was killing her. She did not stop — not because she had no fear, but because she had a curiosity larger than her fear. We too stop before small fears every day: a new undertaking, an awkward meeting, an honest conversation. Marie Curie tells us that fear comes from the not-yet-understood. Step one pace closer and look, and fear turns into curiosity.
