📖 Origin of the Hanja
The hanja "裵" combines 衣 (clothing) + 非 — depicting flowing robes. Korean Bae traces to Bae Hyeon-gyeong, one of the four founding generals of the Goryeo dynasty alongside Shin Sung-gyeom, Bok Ji-gyeom, and Hong Yu. Modern famous: actor Bae Yong-joon, who triggered the Korean Wave (Hallyu) in Japan.
