갈대밭의 백로(蘆洲白鷺圖)
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"For what is the stillness of an egret standing among the reeds a pause?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This painting holds an egret standing motionless among the reeds at the waterside. It came from the Chinese bird-and-flower tradition, yet the figure of a bird standing without a stir gathers the heart anywhere. I see here the concentration dwelling within stillness. The egret stands motionless not out of idleness. Awaiting one instant beneath the water, it gathers all its senses. Outwardly calm, inwardly it is awake. People are the same. A time that looks like stillness may in fact be the time of clearest concentration. Not moving and being awake are not two different things.

🌱Apply It Today

Do not mistake for idleness a time of pause that seems to yield no result; keep the posture of concentration.
