Bakyeon Falls

박연폭포
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What is it that the straight-falling water refuses to hesitate over?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

Jeong Seon drew the cascade of Bakyeon Falls in Kaesong longer and straighter than it truly is, falling in a single breath. Though dark rocks press in from either side, the water never wavers, aiming only downward. Standing before this vertical line, I see that to fall is not to collapse but to follow one's own path to its very end. Because the water makes no effort to linger on high, it gives the most powerful sound.
