Bamseom by Shim sa-jeong

밤섬도
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What does a small island afloat in the middle of the river resemble?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This painting by Sim Sa-jeong holds, with calm restraint, the islet of Bamseom set in the middle of the river. Though surrounded on all sides by water, the island does not waver but keeps its place. I see here a figure that does not lose its center even while encircled. The water flows and changes without cease, yet the island is not swept along by that current. People too, the more disordered their surroundings, must know their own place clearly. To be surrounded is not the same as to be pushed along. To stand still within the current is also a kind of strength.

🌱Apply It Today

The more disordered things around you grow, the more you should confirm once again the one center you must not let waver.
