Boats on the Sea

바다 위의 배들
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"Why does each boat, on the same sea, go in a different direction?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This Japanese painting, by one who followed the manner of Tawaraya Sotatsu, holds boats afloat upon the sea. Scattered like dots across the wide water, each pushes on toward a different place. Even crossing the same sea, when the place one seeks to reach differs, so does the way. The insight of sea and boat reaches the people of any land. Here I see the importance of direction. Before how fast one rows comes where one rows toward. A boat that has not fixed its direction circles in place, however diligently it is rowed.
