Chinese lantern in Dunedin Chinese Garden at night
"How does a single lantern in the dark let the whole garden be seen anew?"
📝ONGO's Reflection
In a Chinese garden after nightfall, a single lantern is lit. By day the whole garden enters the eye at a glance, but in the dark only the place the lantern lights rises up. Where the light reaches is distinct, and beyond it sinks into darkness. In this single point of light I see the principle of focus. To try to light everything brightly is to see nothing clearly. Because there is darkness, the place the light shines stands out. Like a lantern lighting one place at a time, to gather the heart on the one thing to light now is the way to cross the dark.

Rather than lighting many tasks at once, gather your heart on the one thing to light now.
