🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What was reflected in the eye of a stranger painting a harbor of an unfamiliar land?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a scene of the bay of Nagasaki, Japan, painted by the German painter Eduard Hildebrandt. That place, a rare harbor long open to the outer world, was newly held by a stranger's eye. A scene that to the familiar would be only the sea they always saw is reflected as wonder in unfamiliar eyes. In this gaze I see the source of newness. The new comes not from a new place but from new eyes. A place always passed by becomes another scene when looked at as if for the first time. Look again, with a stranger's eye, at the place dulled by familiarity.

🌱Apply It Today

Look at the familiar place you always pass by with the eye of a stranger arriving for the first time today, and recover the newness gone dull.
