벚꽃 가지 위의 꿩 (花鳥図)
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What meeting does the bird alighting on a flowering branch reveal?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a Japanese bird-and-flower painting bearing the seal of Koson, drawing a pheasant perched on a cherry-blossom branch. The scattering petals and the bird's bearing meet on one surface. I feel this painting has caught a moment of accord. The flower did not bloom for the bird, nor did the bird come for the flower, yet in the instant the two meet, a single landscape is completed. The good scenes of life come, too, from such chance accord. An unintended meeting shapes the most natural beauty.
