🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What is the heart that looks up from a small boat at plum blossoms on a cliff?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a painting by Kim Hong-do. An old man on a boat looks up at plum blossoms blooming on a far, sheer cliff. The blossoms bloom at a height beyond reach, and the man only floats on the river. Yet beauty is not lessened by being unreachable. In this distance I see one way of savoring. There are things that are enough merely to behold, even if one cannot own them. To try to take every good thing in hand is to lose even the joy of beholding. To keep something far off and look at it long is also a kind of possession.

Do not force one unattainable thing into your hand; leave it as the joy of beholding it from afar.
