🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What does a village nestled even among harsh rocks convey?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This is a landscape by the Japanese artist Shibata Zeshin, holding a village set among rocks. Though a work from the tradition of Japanese painting, the scene holds a principle that carries anywhere. I see, in the houses nestled among rough rocks, the perseverance of people. One cannot always choose to live only in level places. Even in harsh spots, people settle, cut paths, and live on. Not because the environment is perfect, but because of the will to live out the place one is given, a village is formed. The rock is hard, yet even in its crevices life takes root.
