Miryang Bakik Mural

밀양 고법리 박익 벽화묘
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What did the heart that painted people on a tomb wall wish to leave behind?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

The mural tomb of Bak Ik at Gobeop-ri in Miryang is a rare site where figures were painted on the walls within the tomb. To paint the living in the place where the dead would dwell was because there was some world they hoped would continue even after their passing. In this mural I see how people of old faced the end. They regarded death not as a severance but as a moving to another place, and adorned even that place with care. How one wishes to meet the end mirrors what one holds dear while living.
