Danwon Kim Hong-do drew a mother dog and her pups with great tenderness. The gestures of the puppies clustered close beside their mother are warm beyond words. In this humble scene I see the true face of care. Not in great teachings or grand words, but in the everyday gestures of offering one's side and one's back, love takes up its dwelling. The most ordinary tending makes the deepest peace. To be at someone's side is, in itself, a thing large enough.
