서궐도안(西闕圖案)
🖼 ONE LINE FROM THIS PAINTING

"What did a palace painting, all but empty of people, set out to record?"

📝ONGO's Reflection

This work is a careful underdrawing of the western palace, its buildings and walls laid down patiently in ink lines. Almost without bright color, almost without a strolling figure, only the structure remains. I see here the composure of a recording mind. Some work takes its value not from feeling but from leaving the form behind exactly. So that a later age might recognize this place, the painter drew his lines without putting himself forward. Even without brilliance, an accurate record becomes the ground on which time is borne.
