DAY 7

As One Sheds Worn-Out Clothes

Bhagavad Gītā 2:22

📜 THE VERSE

As a person sheds worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, so life lets go of what has grown old.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Am I unable to shed what has grown old and tight on me, only because it is familiar?

📝Reflection

I read this ancient image not as grand doctrine but as the wisdom of letting go. Just as worn clothes must be shed however dear, certain places, ties, and habits of life must be released when their time comes. Here the Buddhist saying that all forms pass meets Ecclesiastes' word that there is a season for everything. I loosen my grip on the old a little, to leave room for the new to enter.
