DAY 14

Unshaken in Pain, Unhungry in Pleasure

Bhagavad Gītā 2:56

📜 THE VERSE

Unshaken in pain, unhungry in pleasure, freed of attachment, fear, and anger — such a one is called steady in wisdom.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Do I tremble before pain and grow giddy before pleasure, losing my center in both directions?

📝Reflection

The steady one the old teacher paints is not a stone without feeling, but a person whose boat is not capsized by the waves of emotion. Trembling less in pain and soaring less in pleasure are two restraints that spring from a single root. Like still water — a clear mirror reflects things as they are only when calm — wisdom mirrors clearly only in an unshaken mind. By practicing to cling less to the good, I grow the strength to be shaken less by the bad.
