DAY 198

Darkness Hidden in Darkness

Rigveda 10.129.3
기원전 1500~1200년경(구전 전승)
ORIGINAL
तम आसीत्तमसा गूळ्हमग्रे (tama āsīt tamasā gūḷham agre)
📜 THE VERSE

At first, darkness lay hidden in darkness. All this was a signless flood. That which was veiled in emptiness was born, at last, as One by the power of heat.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Is something in me still hidden in darkness, waiting for its time to be born?

📝Reflection

Every beginning comes from signless darkness, a flood not yet named. The poet does not fear that chaos but sings that within it something takes form of its own accord, by 'heat' (tapas). The new things in my life have always come this way — first a darkness where nothing is clear, then something growing warm inside, and one day, form. That which has no shape yet is not therefore absent. Darkness is not the end but the womb of things not yet born.
