Another Way — Surrendering to What Is Larger
Or the mind reaches stillness by laying itself down before what is larger than the self.
Have I worn myself out gripping everything by my own strength — even what should be left to the flow?
📝Reflection
Praṇidhāna, from pra-ni-dhā, means "to set down before, to entrust wholly." Patañjali names not only the path of effort but sets another beside it — surrender. There is no need to narrow īśvara here into one faith's creed. The heart of it is the posture of opening one's hand before "what is larger than the self." The very grip that tries to control everything is what wears the mind down most. To strive at what is ours, yet entrust to the flow what has left our hands — this letting go, paradoxically, brings the deepest calm.
🌱Apply It Today
Name one thing today beyond your control, open your hand, and say 'this, I leave to the flow.'
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
