Enchiridion
Are you losing your peace of mind over things that are entirely out of your control?
📝ONGO's Reflection
When I first opened this slim handbook, the Enchiridion, the resolute voice of a philosopher born a slave snapped me wide awake. Epictetus divides everything in the world, as cleanly as cutting a radish, into what is up to me and what is not. Why do we suffer so over things that have left our hands, the judgments of others, the weather, the mistakes of the past? Only my own thoughts and choices, he says, are mine to own. Whenever my mind grows tangled, I pick up this book, for it reminds me that freedom begins with drawing clearly the borders of my own heart.
"Men are disturbed not by things, but by the view which they take of them."Epictetus, Enchiridion
"사람들을 어지럽히는 것은 사건 자체가 아니라, 사건에 대한 그들의 생각이다."
🌱Apply It Today
Whenever anxiety rises today, ask yourself: "Is this something I can control?" If it's beyond your control, bravely flip the switch off in your mind.
