A Good Physician Fits the Medicine to the Illness
A good physician examines the illness and gives the medicine that fits it.
Am I applying the same advice, the same yardstick, to everyone?
📝Reflection
The same medicine cannot cure every illness. The feverish need a cooling remedy, the cold-bodied a warming one. A good physician does not boast of the medicine but examines the illness. Dealing with people is just the same. We often press the one prescription we believe right onto everyone alike — "you must live this way," "that must be solved like this." But the same comfort strengthens one person and wounds another. Real kindness begins not in giving what I want to give, but in recognizing what this person needs now. The good physician's eye is turned not toward the medicine cabinet but toward the patient.
🌱Apply It Today
When you want to advise someone today, first ask: "is this the medicine I want to give, or the one he needs?" The same words land far better.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
