Great Because It Is Not Called Great
Even "a great body" is no fixed great body; it is merely named great. Free of the name, it becomes truly great.
Am I shrinking, bound to the name "a great person"?
📝Reflection
The Diamond Sutra repeats a peculiar phrasing: "A is not A, therefore it is named A." At first it sounds like wordplay, but a deep insight hides within. The moment we name something, that name in turn cages it. Win the name "a great person," and you cannot act freely for living up to it. So the paradox "great only when not called a great body" runs deep. Only one unbound by name, title, and reputation can grow beyond that vessel. The greatest person is the one who does not mind being great.
🌱Apply It Today
When a label — "I must be this kind of person" — constrains you today, peel it off briefly and just act honestly.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
