📜 THE VERSE

Within heaven and earth, throughout the cosmos, there is one treasure — and it lies hidden within this very body.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Searching for the treasure far away, am I blind to the one already hidden in my own body and mind?

📝Reflection

Borrowing an old line, Yunmen said: within heaven and earth, throughout the cosmos, there is one treasure — and it lies hidden within this very body. Having circled the vast universe, the finger points, in the end, at oneself. We always seek the most precious thing far away: a greater achievement, a farther journey, a higher state. But Yunmen says the cosmos's greatest treasure is nowhere else than within this body, this mind, right now. Awake awareness, a heart able to love, this living capacity to feel and notice — that very aliveness is the treasure the universe holds. Before you set off far, look first within yourself. The realization that the treasure you searched for outside all your life was, from the start, in the nearest place of all — that is Yunmen's gift.

🌱Apply It Today

When you feel lacking and want to fill it from afar today, place a hand on your chest and feel once: "This aliveness itself is already the treasure." That awareness lowers the craving by a notch.
