Turn the Light Back upon Itself
Turn the light that faced outward back, and look into your own mind.
Brightly lighting others' faults, when did I last shine the light on my own mind?
📝Reflection
To turn the light back means to redirect the mind's light, which faced only outward, to illumine within — like a lamp that always lit the way ahead finally lighting under its own feet. All day we look outward: others' faults, the world's problems, what we lack. That light is so bright we fail to see the darkness in our own mind. When anger toward someone arises, turning the light back briefly to see "what in me is reacting this way?" changes much, for the cause of anger does not always lie only outside. This is not a call to self-blame. It is an invitation to turn, just once, the ever-outward gaze inward and meet oneself honestly.
🌱Apply It Today
When anger at someone rises today, turn the light that lit him back for a moment and see "what in me is reacting this way?" Half the anger loosens there.
This verse is read as universal humanistic wisdom, not religion — no faith is promoted, and the reflection is 100% original ONGO content.
