DAY 365

Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

1 John 4:18
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
φόβος οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν τῇ ἀγάπῃ, ἀλλ' ἡ τελεία ἀγάπη ἔξω βάλλει τὸν φόβον.
📜 THE VERSE

There is no fear in love; perfect love casts out fear.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Am I so afraid to love that I keep the door of my heart closed?

📝Reflection

Fear and love can hardly share the same room. One afraid of being hurt cannot open the heart, and a heart that will not open has no love. John reverses the order: perfect love casts out fear. The Greek exo ballei is a strong phrase—"to throw out and drive away." When love takes its place, fear loses its footing. Afraid of being wounded, I would build a wall first; but that wall shut out not only pain but love along with it. The way to overcome fear is not to raise the wall higher, but to open the door with love.

If fear of being hurt kept you from someone today, brave that fear and take just one step toward them first.
