DAY 323

Mercy Triumphs over Judgment

James 2:13

📜 THE VERSE

Judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Am I ready to be measured by the very yardstick I use on others?

📝Reflection

One who judges others harshly forgets the day they will be measured by the same standard. James sets mercy and judgment on the scale and says mercy wins. This does not mean ignore right and wrong, but weigh before you reckon. Seeing another's fault, I easily become a judge; but if I first consider their circumstances, the verdict is delayed. Mercy is not weakness. To hold the power to punish and yet withdraw it—that is mercy's triumph.

🌱Apply It Today

When a fault catches your eye today, before judging, first ask: "What might that person have been going through?"
