DAY 287

Do Not Let Your Left Hand Know

Matthew 6:3-4
기원후 1세기
ORIGINAL
μὴ γνώτω ἡ ἀριστερά σου τί ποιεῖ ἡ δεξιά σου
📜 THE VERSE

When you give, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

When I do a good deed, how much of it is mixed with a wish to be noticed?

📝Reflection

It is natural to want a good deed to be known. But the moment that wish enters, the deed serves two purposes at once — helping someone, and making oneself look good. This verse asks us to strip away the second. A good deed done with no one watching leaves no room for calculation. When neither reward nor recognition is expected, the act remains in its purest form. Secrecy here is not concealment but a way of keeping a good deed clean.
