DAY 2

Knowledge Begins in Awe

Proverbs 1:7
기원전 10~4세기
ORIGINAL
רֵאשִׁית דַּעַת יִרְאַת יְהוָה
📜 THE VERSE

The first step of knowledge is awe — bowing before what is greater than oneself.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Have I lost all awe, mistaking myself for the largest thing in the room?

📝Reflection

To read this verse only as one faith's creed is to read half of it. Its core is the awareness that something greater than oneself exists. Only those who have bowed before nature, before time, before death are finally ready to learn. It is the same humility as when Socrates said, 'I know that I know nothing.' Place yourself at the center of the universe and knowledge stops growing. Awe is not the opposite of knowledge but the first soil in which all true knowledge takes root.
