DAY 27

To Hate Pride and Arrogance

Proverbs 8:13
기원전 10~4세기
ORIGINAL
גֵּאָה וְגָאוֹן וְדֶרֶךְ רָע וּפִי תַהְפֻּכוֹת שָׂנֵאתִי
📜 THE VERSE

Wisdom hates pride and arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

❓ TODAY'S QUESTION

Because things are going well lately, has my neck quietly stiffened without my noticing?

📝Reflection

It is telling that what wisdom guards against most is pride. Pride locks the door of learning from the inside. Into one who thinks he knows it all, no wisdom can find a crack to enter. Not only the Hebrew sage but Laozi, too, said that those who justify themselves do not shine. Pride usually seeps in quietly when things go a little well. The very moment success stiffens the neck is, in truth, the most dangerous. Humility is not the humiliation of lowering oneself but wisdom's self-protection, keeping the door open so learning can continue.
